Information for teachers

Pupils can only apply to take part in the Rhineland-Palatinate-wide writing competition for the Susanne Faschon Prize through their schools or teachers.

It is therefore possible that pupils may approach you on their own initiative and ask for your support.

We would be particularly pleased if you could inform your classes about the opportunity to participate or even encourage them to do so.

We do not consider it your responsibility to supervise your pupils' submissions.

If you would like to look over their shoulders, please only do so if you enjoy it.

What could motivate your pupils?

    Enjoyment of writing

Numerous and substantial prize money (a total of €1,800 distributed among 13 people!)

What could motivate you beyond your professional commitment?

    Renown

Prize for the most creatively writing school (now worth €500 plus a reading or writing workshop for your class).

What work is involved for you?

15-20 minutes to carefully read the pages about the DLT on our website and find out more (participation details, etc.).

Our Wikipedia page is also a good place to start.

1-5 minutes of advertising per class during lessons (prize money; refer to our website).

If you have any questions, please contact the chairman, Dr Thomas Mayr (Post@DLVerein.de).

If there are interested parties:

5 minutes: collect student text(s) (in 5 copies)

(Although it is not your responsibility, if you want to review the texts, the time required will increase).

At the end of January (2027), we will send all interested teachers three lists (in Word) to fill out (signatures of participants / encryption + titles of texts / addresses). We will also explain exactly how to fill them out, shipping requirements, etc.
Filling them out takes about 45 minutes, depending on the number of participants.

Put the texts (in five copies) and lists in an envelope and send them to Dr. Thomas Mayr (see imprint); this takes about 30 minutes.

If someone from your school is shortlisted,

it is necessary to clarify with the school management that the pupil(s) will be excused from lessons to come to the venue (either with parents or teachers) and what the insurance requirements are.

For the closing event, you should allow approximately 3 hours (2-5 p.m.) plus your travel time.
